The PATRIMÓNIO CULTURAL 360® is a public project that aims to make Portuguese Cultural Heritage available online, universally and free of charge, in digital format, including documentary films, 2D and 3D scans of movable cultural assets and virtual tours to museums, monuments, palaces and archaeological sites.


Promoted by Património Cultural, I.P., and funded by the European Union through the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), the initiative aims to make available online 13 documentary films, 65 virtual tours and 2D and 3D scans of 59,500 movable cultural assets under the guardianship of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport, municipalities and foundations, in a joint effort that already includes the collaboration of more than a dozen public and private entities, archives and universities, with RTP as its media partner.


Involving more than 50 specialists in the fields of computer science, conservation and restoration, photography, modeling and graphic design, with the collaboration of researchers in the social sciences and humanities and specialists from theFaculty of Science and Technology of Universidade Nova de Lisboa, to which are added several private companies in the field and the involvement of all the teams from the museums, monuments, palaces and archaeological sites covered by the project, the digitization process underway uses the most advanced digital technologies, such as high-resolution photography, photogrammetry, laser scanning and 3D modeling.


With an initial investment of 11,777,250. 00€ funded by Measure “C04-i01-m02 - Digitization of the Arts and Heritage” of Investment “RE-C04-i01 - Cultural Networks and Digital Transition” of Component “4 Culture” of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), the project PATRIMÓNIO CULTURAL 360® aims to contribute to the modernization of the technological infrastructure of public cultural facilities and promote their digital transition, contributing to the safeguarding of Portugal's cultural heritage, greater access and quality of its public enjoyment, increased consumption of cultural activities and the conquest of new audiences, understanding culture as an essential individual and collective value of identity, sense of belonging and exercise of citizenship, for a truly participatory society, in accordance with the European civilizational matrix.


The scans produced as part of the PATRIMÓNIO CULTURAL 360® project will gradually be made available on arquiv@ – arquivo online do Património Cultural, I.P., and the ongoing process can be followed via the Património Cultural 360 Making Of website.
